SLG, the organizer of Europe's largest congress for treasury and corporate finance topics, is bringing its successful model to Austria and organizing the new Treasury and Finance Convention in Schladming from 13 to 15 September.
When SLG hosts the annual Finance Symposium in spring, the treasury and corporate finance community meets in Mannheim. Well over 2,000 guests regularly take part in Europe's largest industry event.
From this fall, this successful model will also be rolled out in Austria: with the Treasury and Finance Convention in Schladming. The aim is to create a platform for innovation and exchange for the finance sector in this country and also become a fixed part of the congress calendar.
Current and challenging topics
As in Mannheim, participants in Schladming can also look forward to a program with its finger on the pulse and high-quality content. The event will benefit from the fact that SLG is not a traditional convention organizer, but rather the leading treasury and corporate finance consultancy in the DACH region. The convention's content and issues are therefore largely generated from SLG's consulting projects and current challenges in the industry.
"It is important to us that the participants benefit from the content of the event and are able to maintain their industry network at the same time," explains Philip Tüttö, Managing Director at SLG. "The main focus is on the topics that companies will be dealing with in the near future."
This would be the sustainability aspect in the financial sector, for example. In the medium term, EU regulations provide banks with a strong motivation to provide financing with sustainability components. For companies, cooperation with less "green" banks could become a competitive disadvantage in terms of financial strategy. In Schladming, current developments, experiences from specific transactions and necessary measures will be discussed in order to best position oneself for the future.
The upcoming upheavals in cash management will also be a focal point. Digitalization has opened up completely new possibilities here: instant payments, virtual accounts or the connection to banks via so-called APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). Schladming will discuss what these buzzwords actually mean, what relevance they have for companies and what effects can be expected on cash management processes.
Other key topics round off the content of the congress: risk management, technological innovations and system support, corporate finance, payment transactions, cyber security and much more. Absolute experts such as Katharina Binder-Pöchacker, Divisional CFO of OMV and Gernot Netinger, Head of Group Finance at ÖBB, will have their say. In addition, all major banks, many financial service providers and system providers will be represented as partners or exhibitors.
Top speakers come to Schladming
The event will open on September 13 with the lecture "The world in upheaval - What will become of Europe?" by Antonia Rados. The well-known publicist and journalist will give an insight into her exciting work as a war correspondent, talk about her impressive experiences from personal meetings with those in power and explain what conclusions she draws from the current global political situation.
The renowned economist Hans-Werner Sinn will be equally interesting. He will present his forecasts and expectations for the further development of the global economy. In recent years, Europe has slid from one crisis to the next. National debt and the money supply have grown. In addition, the pandemic and war led to shortages in the supply of goods. The result was inflation rates last seen 50 years ago. The top expert will outline solution scenarios and also discuss the role of the European Central Bank in this context.
ORF presenter Mariella Gitler will discuss with the experts and guide them through the program. She is known to the public from the documentary series "Dok 1" and as part of the "Zeit im Bild" editorial team.
The community meets
In addition to high-quality content, networking also plays a central role at the Treasury & Finance Convention. Together with Erste Bank and Sparkasse, the organizer invites you to the #glaubandich Austrian Night on the second evening of the conference. In a relaxed atmosphere, existing contacts can be cultivated and new contacts made - regional delicacies and good conversation guaranteed.
"We are looking forward to the premiere in Styria," says Michael Juen from the management of SLG. "The Treasury and Finance Convention thrives on the content expertise of our numerous partners as well as our own project experience and, last but not least, the exchange among the participants." The best prerequisites for the fact that a new hotspot of the finance and treasury world is currently being created in Schladming.
